Funding Opportunity: NY Youth Works

The New York Youth Works Request for Applications are now available at:  http://www.labor.ny.gov/businessservices/funding.shtm .  There are 12 funding targets for these applications:  Cities of Albany, Buffalo, New York, Rochester, Schenectady, Syracuse, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Utica , and Yonkers; and the Towns of Brookhaven and Hempstead.

As you will see at the above attached link – two RFA’s have been released. Highlights of RFA’s:

NY Youth Works:  Placement Program # T-1:

Up to $50,000 available to provide job matching and placement services to current population of certified youth who are work ready

Open solicitation until 4:00 PM March 30, 2012

NY Youth Works:  Training and Placement Program # T-2:

Up to $50,000 available  to provide work readiness and occupational skills training, Work Readiness Credential testing, job matching and placement services to population of certified youth who are not work ready.

Bidders Conference:

NYSDOL will conduct two webinars pertaining to RFAs – they are scheduled for February 15, 2012 and February 22, 2012.  Times and Sign-Up instructions will be available at http://labor.ny.gov/careerservices/youth-tax-credit.shtm.

Applicant Eligibility:

·       Incorporated for profit or not-for-profit organization, including a CBO or a LWIA that is eligible to do business in NYS (a WIA Grant Recipient may apply on behalf of a LWIB that is not incorporated)

·       Have two or more years as a provider of youth services

·       Have demonstrable ties to the business community

·       Be located within a reasonable proximity to serve youth residing in one of the above 12 areas

·       Have capacity to report/enter participant data on a timely basis.

·       Have demonstrated ability to properly disburse funds according to generally accepted accounting principles, etc.

·       Use funds to provide services to youth meeting eligibility requirements (further explained in RFA).
