Maham Mushtaq is a Pakistani born young women who turns 19 later this month. She is from a family of 5. Mom and dad are here in Yonkers with her and one sister lives in London and another in Pakistan. This international family has quite a history!
In 2008, she came to America accompanying her mother who was in need of a liver transplant. When her mom's surgery was done, Maham cared for her for a year, missing an entire year of high school.
As she tried to decide what to do educationally, it was suggested that she come to VIVE for the Pathways to Success GED program. Maham enrolled in summer of 2010. By December, she was ready to test. She credits our teacher, Nichole Gray with her successful preparation and passing of the GED test. The passing grade is 2250, Maham received 3050. She currently received a resume from our employment services and works at Shoprite for the time being.
However, she claims, "The whole experience in GED boosted me to do what I always wanted to do. Pre-pharmacy at Westchester Community College followed by the study of pharmacology at the University of Buffalo". This is her goal. We know she'll be top of her class and though we wish her luck, Maham seems to make her own good luck.
